by William David Thompson O God of Excellence, I am grateful that you love me and accept me just as I am. But I also am acutely aware of how often I fall short. Thank you that you hold me to a higher standard. Walk with me today as I try to live the life of Christ in my work. Help me to practice generosity, courage, and intelligent effort—to be a person of character. And, especially, help me to embody your spirit of love, even toward those who rub me the wrong way or criticize me or challenge me. I praise you with the psalmist that your "steadfast love is higher than the heavens." Amen.
