Description: On the occasion of the 64th World Food Day, Pope Benedict XVI sent a letter to the Director General of the UNs Food and Agriculture Organization.
In the letter the pope mentioned how the economic crisis has permeated through all sectors of society but has particularly affected agriculture in a dramatic way.
He called on the international community to ensure the adequate access of food to those who need it most around the world, an issue he believes is fundamentally rooted in the right to life.
Benedict, who will attend the World Summit on Food Security in November, highlighted the idea of farming methods and said that natural resources should not be wasted.
