Description: Regarding Prayer Forms in the www.myCatholicVoice.com video contest, my favorite type of prayer is an authentic prayer. Jesus compares two prayers, one from a religious man who prays "thank you God I am not like these sinners" versus a sinner who knows he is a sinner and pounds on his chest, falls to the ground and says "Lord, have mercy on me, ... a sinner". Jesus tells us the second prayer is the prayer that is heard and is effective (Luke 18:9-14). My favorite part of mass is “Lord, I am not worthy to receive You, but only say the word and I shall be healed”. I always feel forgiven, renewed, lighter, and ready for the next week ahead after saying this prayer during the Mass. It is the start of my new life in the new week, soon to be celebrated with my community of friends, the Catholic community and Christ’s Church in the celebration of the Eucharist. My favorite song to share my faith is probably two songs depending on the time of year. If it is Lent, then “Amazing Grace”. If it is Advent, then “Joy To The World”. The song that has probably taught me the most about the Catholic faith is probably “Glory to God” by Owen Alstott. Visit me sometime at www.mySpace.com/pathwaysOriginalMusic and hear the entire song “Where My Savior Sets Me Free”, a song all are invited to sing in authentic prayer. Even pound on your chest if you want to. :-)
