All over Latin America, there are a considerable number of scores just waiting to be resurrected. Most of them date back to the colonial period (17th-19th centuries). Access to these collections is problematic: they are kept in far-off places and restoration is difficult. The program financed by Repsol YPF under the auspices of UNESCO represents an unprecedented effort to exhume, restore, transcribe and interpret these musical treasures.
