Love--willing the good of the other--must undergird everything else in Christian life. Even the strongest faith, if it is unformed by love, is nothing; even the greatest pastoral outreach, if it is not for the sake of love, means nothing; even the most spectacular spiritual gifts, if they don't conduce toward love, are worthless. In light of this reading, we have the criterion by which to assess the quality of our lives.word,fire,father,robert,barron,christ,sermon,sermons,podcastHomilies3804b8f80273c07a15300de24de3434225f@0|@0|@0|@0|@0yeshttp://ll.mycatholicvoice.com/f/ch/MTgeGi/160TheStrangePathofLove.mp3

404IOdJEjFalling in Love With GodSo many of us skeptical moderns--intellectual heirs of Descartes-- identify with doubting Thomas. We too struggle with faith, ask tough questions, want proof. And to some degree, this is praiseworthy. But the trouble with systematic and persistent doubt is that it precludes the possibility of love, for love is always a surrender. "How blessed are those who have not seen and have yet believed," because they have allowed themselves to fall in love with Jesus Christ.word,fire,father,robert,barron,christ,sermon,sermons,podcastHomiliesfatherbarron510Father Robert Barron5http://ll.mycatholicvoice.com/f/8/1864_thumb.jpg2007-11-29 15:43:31.802759
4999rL2AMWhat is Love?In the thirteenth chapter of his first letter to the Corinthians, St. Paul sings a hymn to love. He tells us that love is "patient, gentle, kind, not snobbish" and that it "never fails." Love, after all, is what God is: willing the good of the other as other. When we love, therefore, we are sharing in the very life of God.word,fire,father,robert,barron,christ,sermon,sermons,podcastHomiliesfatherbarron350Father Robert Barron5http://ll.mycatholicvoice.com/f/8/2166_thumb.jpg2007-11-29 15:44:52.689376
210fhL36YVictory DayEaster is victory day. Jesus came, in C.S. Lewis’ words, as a warrior to do battle with all of the powers of darkness, from oppression and violence, to disease and death itself. On the cross, he struggled at close quarters with the enemy that most frightens us, and in the Resurrection, he won the victory on our behalf.word,fire,father,robert,barron,christ,sermon,sermons,podcastHomiliesfatherbarron1060Father Robert Barron5http://ll.mycatholicvoice.com/f/8/2092_thumb.jpg2007-11-29 15:41:31.466492
466HSvyxeGod Is LoveOn the feast of the Trinity, we reflect on the uniquely Christian definition of God: God is love. Love is not something that God does, or an attribute that God has; love is what God is. This means that God must be a play between lover, beloved, and love--between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.word,fire,father,robert,barron,christ,sermon,sermons,podcastHomiliesfatherbarron400Father Robert Barron5http://ll.mycatholicvoice.com/f/8/2083_thumb.jpg2007-11-29 15:44:30.989615
