This important new collection continues the groundbreaking work initiated by the renowned composers in their earlier effort, The Church Gathers. Messrs. Haugen and Daigle have carefully woven together familiar and proven liturgical music to craft meaningful ritual prayer that results in a truly integrated, engaging, and collaborative effort between liturgical ministers. Each song in this beautiful collection provides one model of how the communion rite may be executed. Music ranges from such traditional titles as "Silent Night" and "Dona Nobis Pacem" to established contemporary hymns such as "I Am the Bread of Life," "Look Beyond," and "Now in This Banquet." Every song and hymn in this collection is utilized to bridge a unified communion rite from fraction to postcommunion canticle and the prayer after communion. Each brilliant adaptation profoundly enhances the communion rite by offering music that is known and loved in such a manner that it contributes to a complete understanding and full participation in the rite and its song.

370b8pSR9Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time : The Wisdom of QohelethOur first reading for this Sunday is taken from the wonderful book of Ecclesiastes. This Biblical text is made up of the cranky reflections of Qoheleth, an old man who has seen it all and done it all--and finds all of it "vanity and a chase after wind." Why do we attend to his rather sardonic meditations? We do so because it is altogether salutary to be reminded that our ultimate joy is found in none of the goods of this world. So sit down with Qoheleth, pretend he's your curmudgeonly but loveable grandfather, and listen.word,fire,father,robert,barron,christ,sermon,sermons,podcastHomiliesfatherbarron900Father Robert Barron5http://ll.mycatholicvoice.com/f/8/2149_thumb.jpg2007-11-29 15:42:58.537304

2022zvQX0KThe Church Gathers

In this first collection of ritual music, Gary and Marty have composed complete musical settings for the gathering rite. The basic melodies are drawn from familiar hymns like "O Come, All Ye Faithful" and "Shepherd Me, O God." From the Sign of the Cross and greeting to the opening prayer, priest, cantor, and assembly engage in a musical dialog that helps reveal the meaning of the rite with integrity. Familiar musical phrases from familiar hymns and songs make the assembly's response so natural they cannot help but sing from the heart.
A full score is available for the director and accompanist as well as separate octavos for each piece for the choir, and an edition for the presider, cantor, and guitarist. The presider's parts may be spoken or sung. Selected instrumental parts are also available. Reprintable assembly parts are included in the full score.
