Episode #2 - Going Deeper

Today we will have our "LMF Spotlight" segment, run through some feedback from our last show, and in our Faith segment, we will be talking about Christ crucified. We'll also have our second "Life Behind the Voice" segment featuring Reid's conversion/life story. Finally, we'll wrap up with an update on the first tasty "LMF Challenge."

Segment #1: "LMF Spotlight"

Segment #2: "Christ Crucified"
Matt 16:24-27: Conditions of Discipleship. Speaks of disciples taking up their own cross, denying themselves to follow Christ.

“When I carne to you, brethren, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God in lofty words or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Cor 2:1-2).

How/Why does Christ Crucified derive so much meaning to the Catholic faith? With few exceptions, the teaching of Christ Crucified is largely a Roman Catholic, or Orthodox teaching. If scripture is clear (i.e. Paul's writing) about this teaching, why is it not found more in other denominations? How and what influences does Christ Crucified have in our lives? What does it show of God's love for us? Individually, what has this meant for us in our suffering? Other thoughts?
What are typical rebuttals to Christ Crucified by other Christian denominations?

Segment #3: Life Behind The Voice
Father Andrew's Story

Segment #4: LMF CHallenge

Closing comments:
"One Word Assessment": Each host picks one word to describe how the show went
"Two Word Challenge": Each host gives a two word challenge to listeners
"Three Prayer Intentions": Each host gives three special prayer intentions to bring to the Father before the next show

Segment #1: Brief Introduction to hosts and podcast

Segment #2: Life Meets Faith - The Great Struggle
We've been reading from Paul's letter to the Colossians recently during daily Mass. In that letter, Paul says:“[I]t is Christ in you, the hope for glory. It is he whom we proclaim, admonishing everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. For this I labor and struggle, in accord with the exercise of his power working within me.” (Colossians 1:27-29)

When life meets faith, why do we have to "labor and struggle"? What's that battle/struggle look like? What areas of life is this struggle most evident?

In the midst of the struggle, what are the signs that Christ is our "hope for glory"?

Segment #3: First LMF Challenge
Father is hungry. He has lived in a dorm for nine years and he's on his own for the first time. He needs your help. The first LMF Challenge is to send in your suggestions of meals/recipes for Fr. Andrew (email, call, etc.). Remember, he has limited cooking skills, time, and patience. Also, he doesn't like raw tomatoes (he eats them for penance). Send in your suggestions and recipes soon and he will try them out. During upcoming shows, he'll provide updates with how it's going. If your suggestion is picked as his favorite, he will send you a prize from his endless pile of "rockin' books that ain't gettin' read." The LMF guys might find something else to throw in too. Hurry so he doesn't resort to gas station hotdogs anymore.
